Angry Fire!!!

where should start.........
I was driving home on I-80 when my car droped from 70 to 60 mph with out me taking my foot off the gas. What do i do you ask. Pay it no attention because it 1150pm and it could just be in my head. Ok so it happens 2 more times. Somthing is very wrong. Luckly my exit is coming up so I take it. On the off ramp i try to down shift but it would not come out of gear. WTF . some how I get it to go into 3rd then I take it off the road as fast as i could. I get out to pop my hood but my friend stops me and tells me my car is of fire. I run in MD to get a fire ext. It takes them 15min just to get it while my car was out side burning up. The F@##ing ext. was at the door. We put the fire out and checked where it was coming from. The splash gaurd was melted and it looked like a bolt was missing but thats all i could see because it was dark. Now the wait begins to see if will cover it. I only have 12k and it is only a year old so i hope so. i will try to post pics when i get up if i don't drink my self into a stuper. All in all a very bad night

1. what is directly behind the driver side wheel? (tranny cooler?)
2. has anyone had happen to them?

We had similar problem with my old man RS6
We were on track day ad after few laps I smelled smoke
We pull out in boxes and pop up the hood.
There was fire… I took fire extinguisher and I put the flames down
The reason is that from the one of the cats the cable pack caught…
Well the answer from Audi was that is our problem
Well our lawyer is at the case at the moment

if thats an 05 ( i think i see the resevoir there) it could be the ACD pump. thats whats back there.. otherwise, on the 03s its the IC spray tank, and i doubt that would catch fire. =P

Sorry to hear about this, I hope you weren't running around town without the turbo back exhaust. I've seen alot of dumb people do this and wonder why their car is on fire.

might want to take that intake off before you take it to the dealer...or else you might get the dreaded "Void".

that's a real shame about what happened to your car dude. i know from personal experience that he mitsu reps are real dicks about anything you change on the car so if you could, i would definately swap back the intake and anything else that might possibly even have a chance of voiding the warranty. good luck with it though, i'm rooting for ya.
