US vs EU version
US vs EU version
I’m wondering
What is the difference between the EU and US EVO IX version?
I don’t mean the outside, but the engine.
I red here, that you are doing 280 on 91 octane gas.
EU spec has 280 on 98 octane gas (recommended)
Well why I can’t use normal 95 gas in EU version?
Please explain
Thank you

we get the EU / Austrailian spec Evos here in South Africa, they are running on 95RON (~roughly 91 R+M/2) without hassles, but we live at 5600Ft above sea level, but if you want the most out of the car I would recommend 98+ RON, especially if you live at sea level.
RON = Research Octane Number
MON = Motor Octane Number
In the USA guys use an average = R+M/2 to calculate the octane, tus if they are talking 91 (~96RON) or 93 (~98RON)
Generally the MON number is ~10 points below the RON number:

Also, I don't know the differences between OBD-2E and US OBD-2 so ECU might be slightly different.
All in all, both cars are pretty much the same and it probably tells you in your user manual that you could run on 95 in case 98+ is not available.
