intake silencer
intake silencer
just took my intake silencer out and it sounds pretty sweet... im just wondering is it bad that i took the silencer out..please tell me if anything happens thank you
I only know of intake silencers in 1g DSM's. It white and star shaped. That is what they were designed for for the 1g's, to reduce intake sound. Yes, it made intake sound "cooler" and louder but like a million people are going to say, Evo's do not have intake silencers. Looks like you will be looking for a new MAF. Does it even run right?

Apparently there's a tray on the underside of the stock intake tubing. Some say it's for water, some say it's to reduce intake noise.

i'm assuming this whole thread is a joke. I mean, "u know that black plastic thing in the engine well i took that out" is just about the most vague statement possible.
firstly, there aren't that many bits in the intake of an evo before you get to the turbo. In fact, before the filter, there are two. The removal of one is pointless and probably detrimental to performance. The removal of another is not possible if you want the filter to stay in place.
Then we have the intake box, the MAF assembly and then the intake pipe. None of which do any silencing. I'm guessing the intake box isn't removed, and the intake pipe is still there so that leaves the MAF itself and the honeycomb thing, neither of which should be messed with.
So, what are we talking about?
