guys this may be a dumb question but does the evo VIII and IX use the same cam gear cover ? I searched but could not come up with results. TIA

No, the variable intake cam gear is more proud (stick out further) than the std 8's one, if you look you'll see the 9's cam cover has a bulge in it.
