Concealing aftermarket intake in stock airbox
Concealing aftermarket intake in stock airbox
Has anybody done this and does it improve or decreases the aftermarket intakes potential. If feasible, I would consider doing this with the HKS RS since it gets most gains by many tuners on-site. Im moving to California and everyone is telling me to stealth my engine bay. If the airbox decreases the cone style intake's potential than I will void the idea.
I left the snorkel on and attached it to the top of the intake box with 2 screws where the snorkel and top overlap so that it would stay in place. Under it is my intake. I don't have any sustantial data on this "mod" but my intake feels cool to the touch after a long drive, so i guess it works... I'll try and get some pictures up if I can find a camera.

I use just the snorkle on mine.. There isn't any good data to prove either way but my theory is any air coming in at that location is good
Of course it's only going to help at higher speeds.
Very sneaky. I did go to a show here in Honolulu in which an owner used the HKS box and modified the hole by shaving off plastic to allow his Green Hks to clear the opening and lay inside the box.
Your photos are great but will take an in-person look to see just how concealed it is. It seems to be a bit visible from the driver's side. Great job nonetheless. Does it move around? Is it resting on the filter?
