service engine light question

service engine light question
got the 30k service done at the dealer on friday. noticed the car was idling high 1000k or slightly above but didnt thing much about it..today the service engine light came on..any ideas on what it could be? also is there a way to turn off the service engine light without going to the dealer (i.e.) unplugging the battery? checked the gas cap and that was tight..
