Just Wondering........

What is a reasonable price for a shop to charge for dropping the tranny, storing the car for 2 weeksish (while I send it out to be rebuilt) and then putting the tranny back in?

Or..... does anyone know of a good shop to have my tranny rebuilt in socal?

The price can vary greatly on wether or not the shop will charge you a storage fee. The price should be hourly charges to remove and remount transmission + any storage fees accrued during the time the car is in the shop.

Easy way to find out would be calling and asking since it is different for each shop

That would be easy, but would still leave the question of what others paid and whats fair. I personally know what shops around me charge but would be good to see what others paid.

You could just take your car to Tuning Technologies in SoCal. They could drop your tranny, put in a rebuilt Shep tranny, and have you back your car the next day. They are affordable and more than competant. They rebuild Evo motors, swap trannies, and do clutches on a regular basis. They did my entire car. They are also a vendor on this forum. Call Jennifer for a quote at 909 783 1200.

Just cost me $500 to do EXACTLY that. The shop that did it is a DSM/Evo trans/engine expert, so the work was beyond stellar thankfully.
