I know that there is a couple of star key bolts that hold the steering wheel on . my questioon is do i have to disconnect anything , in terms of sensors or the battery etc ?? thanks guys

 

I imagine the Airbag won't be too keen on coming off, but I don't know for sure if you will need to disconnect anything beforehand (I'm assuming you're putting the same wheel back on).

 

Disconnect the battery or you could cause the airbag to deploy. There should be a sensor to disconnect for that also.

Why are you taking this off? An airbag SRS light will come on if you dont have it connected.

 

i'm looking to do the same thing to paint my VIII wheel a flat black. I think it would look good, but i'm scared to ruin something.
