Just had an AEM EMS installed by Billet Design
I just bought a used AEM EMS and had it installed & tuned by Marco @ Billet Design of Pompano Beach, FL. http://www.billetdesign.com/home.php
I was somewhat hesitant about going with an AEM EMS as I heard that they’re a pain to tune and drivability is poor compared to the stock ECU. I’m so glad I went this route (I bought it used @ a great price) as my car is driving as smooth as the stock ECU or better. The tune Marco did is 5X better than a custom tuned ECU. He leaned out my AFR’s to 11.4-11.8 compared to Al’s 10.0-10.5. My car is very responsive and is much more snappy, You can feel the “throw you back in the seat” feeling much more pronounced and all the way up into the higher rpms. My two stage launch is much better too, it builds boost up to 15-18 psi, compared to 11psi w/ my old DF CST. I gained 50 miles on a tank of fuel from Marco’s last re-flash (200 mpt on Dynoflash CST, compared to 250 mpt on Billet Designs re-flash). Drivability is very good with no problems whatsoever, throttle response is very smooth.
I was amazed at how quickly Marco was able to update my EMS & then re-tune it with some basic changes. We then began the road tuning of the EMS. From start to finish, it took less than 45 minutes total time, and I was on my way with an appreciably faster, more powerful car, that is also more fuel efficient to boot!
Next stop, a good clutch & upgrade to a set of ROBISPEC KW III’s http://robispec.com/main.html , then maybe a 3071 or Buscher 20G9 LT, we’ll see, as tomorrow is my 1st day taking my car on the track with the ROBISPEC tuned suspension (I already ripped up the Dragon, Deals Gap!).
