Is there a big difference....

Hello everyone, I'm thinking about getting new wheels for my IX and I really like the MR ones. The reason I want then is that they are around 18 lbs and are 17". But I also want black wheels on my WW, so I figured I can get them color coated, or just go with the FQ 400 wheels and call it a day.

Here is my question, the FQ wheels weigh around the same as my current regular EVO IX wheels, will I notice a difference between the MR wheels and regular wheels as far as acceleration, cornering, etc? I think the difference is around 4lbs per wheels.

paint your stockers black and save your money. Sounds to me though like you really like the looks of those other wheels. So if that is the case, buy them because you like the way they look.

No, you won't be able to feel the difference, unless you're Tsuchiya or somethin...

But if you are going for considerable weight reduction in the long run, all these little things add up in the end. Decreasing unsprung weight is always good.

Too small of a weight difference to notice. Did you mean powder coating the wheels black?

what are the weight of the stock IX wheels? I have the IX SE so I got the BBS and I am happy I did because I am thinking of weight reduction already - mini battery, cf trunk etc.

where are you located? there's a powdercoating place close to me and it's only $50 a wheel, that includes stripping down the old finish and the powdercoat. maybe you can find a place local to you.

No I'm not asking if powdercoating will add noticible weigh, I'm asking if there is differnce in performance between a mr bbs wheel and a normal IX wheel. The difference it about 4 lbs rotational mass per wheel.

hondafan, i live in Chicago.

Wow, you gave up a lot of money then. The BBS's weigh 2.5 lbs less per wheel and are forged, so they are much stronger and much more valuable.
