Question Any way to import an Evo VI into the U.S.?

Is there any way to import an Evo VI into the U.S. and drive it here legally? Has anyone had any experience with this?

Please search this site, it has been covered before.

Heres the short version. Yes you can do it. Yes it is all about money and patience. No it will never be considered 100% legal. (its all about exploiting loopholes, such as bring the car in without an engine and insuring it as a moving sculpture) I suggest getting a completely legal VIII or IX, in the end much less of a head ache.

or buy a VI already in the country. There are some that periodically show up on Ebay. Also, check out your state laws and make sure you can register whatever you buy.

Yes, but there is no certainty that any grey market car you buy was imported properly or is acceptably legal. Remember, at any point if the local or federal agencies want to push the issue, they can confiscate ANY vehicle that isnt 100% legal according to the items outlined in DOT & EPA guidelines and impound it. Usually that ends with a crushed car, fines, and an empty wallet.

you could drive it legally - all you have to do is register it illegally as a mitsubishi mirage

Haha... people better act before such loopholes are closed. I like "moving structure"

I want a IV terribly, but the reality is its not going to happen because money, red-tape, patience, and let alone finding a nice one will make it just too hard.
