Hi all, I live in Denver and we just got like 25 inches of snow where I live. To make a long story short, I attempted to pick up my stranded sister and got stuck in a good 1ft 1/2 of snow.

I was rocking the car pretty hard trying to get out and stalled as I was shifting from 1st to reverse.

Tried to start her up again to no avail.

After trying several times with no accelerator, my first thought was I flooded the engine. Followed Mitsu's guidelines for starting by holding the accelerator down for 5 secs and then letting off and starting again with no accelerator.

I tried this about ten times...

Fortunately a cop was nice enough to tow me back to my driveway.

The next day, I tried the battery...pulled the battery went to Checker and it tested dead. Replaced the battery and tried the steps above again and still no luck.

The starter sounds good car just won't fire. I've checked all the IC hoses everything looks fine.

I'm worried that I may have sucked up some snow via the APS CAI...but I don't think that's the case since I've driven through heavier amounts than this...

Anybody have any ideas? Any help would be most appreciated...

Next thing to do is see if you are getting spark and fuel. try starting the car, then pull the plugs and smell for fuel. If you smell it then bam you got fuel. Next is to test for spark.

You can do that by laying a plug out not touching anything still attached to the boot and have someone start the car, you should be able to see the spark going through the gap. ( don't get shocked it stings!)

 

Ok check your plugs see how they look whip them down

Once you put them back in

put the key in floor it and hold it turn the key hold it untill it turns on. that should work turbo cars tend to do this in cold weather.

if it dont turn on after 12 turnovers let off try it again 3 more times if it still dont turn on there is something else worng.

I pulled the plugs to see if they were dry and they were...I'm wondering now if I might have a bad fuel pump...is there any way to test this?

 

Wouldnt worry about the pump. You could pull it out and see if it looks bunk but it you are smelling gas than its doing its jobs. Sounds dumb but check your fuses cuz you might have shorted something. They sit in the cold and get pissed at you. Car karma. Try to push start it. Check your airbox for any moisture. Hopefully its not hydrolocked. Last year in Denver I saw a 06 M5 total itself in 6 inches of snow because of sucking water into the track. Full hydro bomb. Are you running an after market intake?

 

Yea...I'm running an APS CAI...But I think for that to happen I'd have too almost completely submerge the filter in water...

 

Check all sensors under the hood and make sure they are connected securly. You make have jarred one loose while hammering through the snow or while trying to get un stuck. Check the underside too for anything that could have come disconnected from the snow.

Checking the fuses is a good idea, and I wouldnt worry about hydrolock. That doesnt seem to be the problem.

check your fuses. i have had that problem it was a 10 amp fuse under my hood i believe.

 

maybe it is your altenator harnes well this happened to me once maybe that why it was reading your battery was dead did u try to jump it?

Might also have a frozen fuel line, some of that 2.00 stuff to put in your tank might do it,........happened to me years ago in Maine with my Eclipse,......car would turn over but not start,.....sure as s#$t, frozen line. May not be the case, but it wouldnt hurt anything, only cxost u 2 dollars.

A friend came over with a fuse tester...

Turns out a 20 amp engine fuse was the culprit...

Replaced with spare and all is well...thanks everyone for your input....have a good holiday!
