roll cage

im getting ready to build a cage for my track car and i was hopeing to get some input on the tubing..... im using a great hydraulic tube bender so size wont kill it but im curious to know what alot of people are using to be safe yet light... i was think about 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 tubing but what are alot of peole using as far as thickness, diameter, and type of steel? thanks for the input

i would just save up and buy a pro one, or just get a pro to build one for you and put it in at the same time. good luck

maybe you missed the part where he said he wants to do it himself? lol

call buschur or ams...or any racing fab company see what they use or recommend

You can Go a little cheaper and just get a roll bar for like 400 or less. I am pretty sure it will do. But of course a roll cage is better. But I would buy a Professional kit, this way it actualy adds support correctly and is the right grade metal.

well being a certified welder and being a mechanic/ fabricator for caterpillar tractors i know what to look for and how to get it done as far as being safe and getting the rigidy needed. i also have been to the track alot and been evaluating their cages the pros not the weekend guys and i know i can make cages with wayyyy better welds so it will carry performance as well as better safety i just need to find the type and thickness

i guess with all that now know I would say go for it. Don't knwo where to get the metal though. Post pics when you're done. I know what you mean buy just doing it yourself, you get a satisfaction like yeah I made that.
