Short shifter kits in racing?
How do most Evo drivers who actually race their cars in auto-x, circuit, and 1/4 mile feel about the short throw shifter mod? Is this mod mostly for daily driving convenience or is it an indispensable upgrade for competition driving?
I am curious abou this as well. I had an ebay one in my civic si for about 6 months. Then, I upgraded to the skunk 2 dual bend short shifter. That shifter was amazing! I would love to put a nice short throw in the evo, but I'm undecided. The evo already has a great shifter to me. I don't bang through the gears, and still pull off sufficiently quick shifts.
I love my WORKS 30% on the road track we go to. No problems with it and it feels pretty good. Add the underhood bushings and the shifter feels mechanical and sure when going through the gears. The issue I had with the stocker was that it had slight problems getting into 3rd and it would hit the gate. I'd recommend getting one, but do your research!
Daily driving is awesome with it too.
Oe a side note.... I've driven a friends S2000 on the same track and that is probably the shortest shifting (STOCK) car I've driven and it feels right at home. I wish our stock shifter was as good as that. Honda did that car right... except for the lack of torque below 9K rpms.
hehehe...

it's FEELS better, but basicly how you shift. if you slow, the short throw not going to help you.
get a sequentional, i think around $1200 you can have one. works with the factory tranny.you still have to use the cluch thought.

but with drag racing.. its all about speed. a 30% reduction could mean 30% quicker. the stock shifter in my opinion is a little more comfortable for daily driving. every short shifter for the evo i've tried has been a little stiffer.. the bushings/bearings whatever you want to call it is a great 25$ mod regardless if you change the shifter or not
heres an example... i have a cutout so when i shift really fast it makes a back fire sound.. it does it everytime i shift at a pretty decently fast rate

as oppose to when i had the stocker, it only did it when i shifted as fast as my hand could possibly function. thats really the only way i was able to judge the speed of my shifts.
kartboy is also a nice one... but way pay triple?
cheers!
