Defi Boost Gauge or Autometer

I was just wondering what the difference is between a Defi Boost Gauge or an Autometer gauge. It appears there is a difference of about 150.00?

Does it have to deal with electronic or not?

Looking at buying a set of three autometer carbon fiber gauges.

Thanks.

I used to run the amber DEFI BF series gauge in my car and liked it alot. It matches the OEM cluster and reads correctly. Positive side.... looks great and darn near exact reading. Down side... they are pricey and you need to do some wiring for the control box.

The autometer gauges arent as nice but they do serve the purpose. Some do tend to read a little off. Positive side ....Great bang for the buck, minimal wiring only for the light. Down side... doesnt look as good and some can read low or high.

I removed the DEFI because it only reads up to 2 bar of boost and I am running 30-31psi so it burried the gauge. I now run a Stewart Warner 40psi gauge. Very nice piece and it also reads correctly. That is another gauge I would recommend BUT it is kind of a pain to get one that is zero'd out. Seems their quality control isnt the best. I got 5 gauges before I got one that was zero'd out.

I put a red LED in my SW gauge so it looks like the cluster lighting. Looks great and serves my purpose.

If you are looking at DEFI stuff try P and L Motorsports on here. They have a sale going on right now with good pricing. They are a distributor for us and they are a reputable place to deal with. Talk to Rich. He is a good guy and im sure he will take care of you.

Its all up to you. Thats my $.02 though.

Jarrod,

where did you purchase the red led bulb for your SW gauge?

I'm looking to do the same thing, I checked my local radioshack but no luck.

Thanks

VDO and Stewart Warner Gauges Look Nice. I wish they had a -30 to 30psi boost gauge.

For the price, the SW Gauges look pretty good, about half the price of the Defi.
