depends on the state. in ohio window tint is probable cause to pull a car over.

I would much rather pay $20 for a fix-it then $110 each for a non-correctable.

Okay...well I called in about the ticket and the lady there said that the ticket was correctable and that officers sometimes just write that its not. So...should I just roll down to the local CHP office and remove tint/put on my front plate and call it a day?

Based off of this I would totally contest this ticket. If their regulation/standard is to annotate is as correctable and the officer knowingly put it as uncorrectable that should be grounds for a dismissal. I would get the name of the clerk you talked with and use that as evidence as well.

An update on this I guess...

I just called in to the office to see if the ticket was in the system yet (citation date is 1/22)...no luck. I asked the clerk over the phone about the ticket and she told me that the ticket was in fact correctable, and to just visit my local CHP office and have them sign it off. Now, to avoid wasting time, I called my local office (the West Valley CHP office)...spoke to an officer, and he told me that I would have to talk to the CHP office where I received the ticket. Again, to avoid driving 90 miles one-way to the CHP office in San Bernardino, I gave them a call and spoke to an officer. Now, he told me that it's the officer's judgement on whether to make it correctable or not. Getting conflicting information, I confronted him about it, and he told me that if the officer feels that the violation was done purposely, the officer will mark it not being correctable...if he feels its unintentional, then the officer will mark it correctable. Now I asked the officer about him personally, and he said he's signed off tickets from L.A. County and he advised me to just take it to the local office and have them sign it off. He also said that if they don't then to just correct the violations and then plead the case before a judge...

It sounds like you are getting the runaround. I hope it works out for you.
