Rear ended a cop in an EVO!
Physics....
It's called "following too close" and it would be your fault. I've seen it before many times. People always complain and say "why is it my fault? I was just sitting still. I wouldn't have hit the car in front of me if I didn't get rear ended." The fact of the matter is, they wouldn't have hit the car in front of them if they had left enough space between them.
Check this out.....
I was traveling northbound on Beach Blvd. (Huntington Beach, Ca.) on 1/13/07. It was a beautiful evening about 6:45 PM or so. I was in the #1 lane, and at a dead stop. I remember it vividly!!! I was waiting at a red light with three cars stopped in front of me. I was enjoying the sound of "painkiller" from Judas Priest on my Alpine very, very, very LOUDLY (It's always loud when my 2 year old son isn't in the car). Well thank god my little guy was not with me that night.
The light had phased to green, and the cars in front of me began to accelerate. Just as I was putting the car into first gear (foot on brake and clutch), ........BAM!!! I was rear ended!! As I step out of my car I notice that my back window is shattered, and my trunk is pushed into the rear window. Both quater panels are trashed, AND YES...the wing survived beautifully!! The truck behind me was a 05' Toyota Tundra. He was stopped completley. The Toyota was rear ended by a Lexus RX430 (suv). My Evo (in front) was stopped, the Toyota was stopped, and the Lexus was doing 45 MPH....and did not even hit his brakes! My car is trashed....($12,500.00 of damage), the Lexus is totaled, and the Tundra needs a new front bumper cover. Luckily no one needed immediate medical treatment. I however still have minor back trouble (nothing that physical therapy can't fix). The driver OF THE Lexus was in the best shape! The Lexus had more airbags than a lowrider convention in East Los Angeles!!!
The point is.....
Repair of an evo after a accident..........$12,500.00
Billing the at fault insurance company for medical coverage......$20,000.00 (plus)
The look on the face of the at fault driver, after telling him that your a off duty cop.........PRICELESS!!!
Don't worry...I was truly nice to the guy, I even sent flowers to him and his wife....(he was obviously late to her birthday party that night)...

What if a 747 rear ends you on an emergency landing and you hit the car infront of you at a light? Following too close? LOL

All it takes is a half decent lawyer...

it's really a blessing that your son wasn't in the back seat because it could have been a disaster!

when i read the title i thought you meant that you saw someone in an evo drive into a police vehicle. THAT would have been priceless.
best wishes on getting better though. my backs pretty fkd too from something like this. hate to tell you but it doesn't get too much better. get more than 20k if you can becuase this is your back we're talking. i wish i'd gotten more for my back getting messed up. oh well. good luck!
