Track rules about remote autostarters?
Track rules about remote autostarters?
Right now I'm in the process of getting a 2-way alarm (probably Compustar) for my vehicle but there's an option for autostarting the car to warm it up (especially useful for New England cold). I was just wondering if there are any rules on the track either road courses or 1/4 mi tracks that prohibit from having an autostarter installed? The reason I ask is because a friend of a friend was told she could not run on the track with an autostarter (this was a drag strip). I mostly do road courses but will eventually get some 1/4 miles in there and was wondering if there is such a rule because this will sway my decision on either getting that option or not.
Why exactly would an autostarter be a problem at the track? are you planning to start the car without you in it at the track?
I've been to a few road track days, not sponsored or anything like that, just open track days, and no one said anything about it. Besides, I never leave the car running in between sessions. We usually have a few minutes at the end to cool down and we just leave the hood open, parked, in between sessions.
If the track officials ask... just tell them it's an alarm and no autostart.
