I got one as a gift and enjoy wiping off the little bits of metal everytime I change my oil. The only problem is when you unscrew the plug, you have to make sure you pull it down fast enough so it doesn't attract the pan again. When that happens oil comes out in a weird pattern that goes everywhere.

I too enjoy pulling little bits off mine twice a year. The plugs are cheap, so why not? Those bits gotta be better stuck to that plug than going through your gears and such.

I just realized this thread isn't specific to the oil pan or transmission. I got confused both times I posted.

The size I posted above is for the oil pan. The transmission bolt size I cannot find, but I'm sure TRE has it.

I would put a magnetic bolt in both.

Both Oil and Trans magnetic plugs are good to get. Best way to find out if you are experiencing any kind of powertrain wear on your vehicle. Metal shavings are your sign of wear.

Ebay sells several types. I have had one for 6 months now in addition to oil filter magnet which is highly more efficient. Definately recommend one!

Oil filter magnet is cool but you don't have the fun of wiping off all the small bits of metal from your engine.
