The latest load of B.S.

I just returned from Maxwell in north Austin and it seems they are really well informed about the arrival of the EVO VII. It seems that the EVO will arrive in JULY? It will be the full blown (276hp) Japanese spec and only 3000 are coming for 2003. This paticular dealership is only going to get 3. The only colors are red, black, white, and silver. If I want to be on the waiting list I have to take what ever shows up regardless of color. I can put a deposit down but that just means that I can be a member of the bidding war that will take place when it shows up. They said 1 is already sold to turbo imports for $10k over sticker?

I am annoyed by all the BS that the dealers keep telling me around here.

THAT is one dealership I would stay away from! They are admitting that they are going to try and sucker every last penny out of their customer base by playing one against the other. What is this, an auction? They are trying to create hype and a frenzy so that people will give them whatever they ask. STAY AWAY FROM THERE!

I won't be surprised if that kind of stuff will happen. I believe that ford did a lottery thing when the shelby mustang came out. Only certain dealers had stock on hand and a customer had to go through a lottery to buy one. I'm not sure if this true but, it's a not-so great PR gimmick to increase publicity and price of a car at the cost of enthusiasts.

Not what my dealer said

They are taking down payments for the first 8 lancers (that's how many they have alotted to this particular dealership). They are due in OCTOBER. When the date and options are finalized those 8 people will get to come in and choose their options (including color). It seems to be working exactly like Suburu did it when they brought over the WRX.

That's the story here anyway. I suppose a disreputable dealer could screw you anyway you want.

MN Autoshow

I talked to a guy from Wayzata Mitsubishi who was at the Minnesota Autoshow last Sunday. They were feeling stupid because they didn't have an EVO VII there and you could see the WRX STI on the platform with the spotlights from their corner

His rumor was that each twin cities dealership was allocated 8 to start. Once he said "downpayment" I walked. October is a long time to let someone else collect interest on my money.

I've got one ordered at Wayzata Mitsubishi. All they want is a $500 deposit, which I put down in August. You can't earn much interest on $500, so it's not a big deal that they have my money.

Also there is more than 10 people who are on the list at Wayzata Mitsu.

Rax: cool!

People were talking $3k at the Autoshow. $500 is no big deal!

I just got off the phone with a in a small town about 75 miles from where I live and they said with a $500 deposit I can have my pick of what becomes available at their dealership at $1000 over MSRP. I am debating on it.

I think I am going to contact every dealer in the state and then some to see if I can get msrp, if not I will bite the bullet and secure one at $1k over MSRP.

Do you all think that is a bad idea?

Thanks,
EJ

I went to the Mitsubishi dealership and they kind of said did'ny gaurantee it that they would start taking names and deposits in 6 months this was in Arizona.
