Thumbs down turbo timer installation $150!

I have a Blitz DTT turbo timer but I have not installed it...I go to this car shop where they know what they are doing and its called "Performance Imports"..I talked to the guy who was going to install it, whom I had talked to about this before..I asked how much he was going to charge and he said $150! I was like WHAT?...Then he was like I can do it for $100 when he saw my expression....Then I told him I had $30 (i really did) and then he was like hmmm let me take a look at it....so I showed the turbo timer to him and then he was like nah the cheapest you will get anywhere is $100 and I was like "We'll see about that" and left without saying anything...Does anyone believe that total BS? I ****in paid $120 for that thing and he wants a $100 installation fee? How much did you guys pay to get a turbo timer installed if you did not do it yourself?

hey dude, seriously.. if you think you cant install a TT - youre probably wrong

if you have a harness it'll be SOO easy. check out my guide in the how to section (basically the same thing, LESS work even if you have no RPM and Speed sensors)

youre gonna get basic labor charges if u have someone else install. orrr you can have another EVO owner do it for 20 bucks or a couple beers

It's not as hard as you think it is to install. I have the same TT and installed it in about an hour. All I gotta say about the install is screw the handbrake and ground that wire. Makes the install quicker.

i got the same TT coming, but i think it may have been an impulse purchase, cause i have to park on an incline in my driveway, and i don't know if i want to trust just the parking brake to keep my car in the driveway...

DIY man. It's easy. It's basically like taking off a few screws, putting some legos together, and putting the screws back on.

I have the Blitz DTT. Definitely a pretty straight forward install if you have the harness. The longest part on the electronics was just getting the dash off the first time, after you have had it off once, it's easy though. Also, the parking brake wire is easy to install, but there is a convenient ground right under the dash if you don't want to use it (I enjoy having the ability to shut down immediately by leaving the parking brake down). Getting the vacuum tube through the firewall and routed to the main unit probably took as long as anything. I would say it took me about 2 hours for everything, including mounting the brain, bundling all the wires with zip-ties, parking brake, boost guage and mounting the remote display.

Where are you located, if your near me, go buy a harness and ill do it for free. It's easy it took me like 20 mins to do mine, and thats without ever doing it before.

-Erik

P.S. I wasent joking, PM me if you live in the South Florida area.

Tapping the parking brake wire is the easiest part of the install. My HKS TT even came with a little wire tapper; couldn't be easier. Don't ground that wire, just do it. Really, the whole install is very easy with the MT-6 harness from HKS.
