this is for my buddys WW IX RS...he says that when he does anything with 5th gear it grinds...putting in 5th,taking out 5th etc...not sure how many miles he has.

said it did it every so often but now is pretty consistent.i told him most likely tranny going bad,but im not sure..anyone know thanks..

he did they said they wont look at it b/c of all his mods...no longer under warranty

 

wow. damn that sux. I was thinking of bringing mine in before 30,000 miles. my 5th gear synchro is shot... When I red line 4th and shift to 5th , It grinds EVERYTIME, even i shift at 6k rpm into 5th, it still grinds... god damn i hate the evos transmission.

 

Maybe searching would help? It's been talked about already, quite few times. Synchros man!

5th is very common with us

 

Call Shep or TRE. 5th gear syncro is shot.

There is a TSB I believe for the 8 with that issue im not sure about the 9, but yeah man search we have dicussed at least once a week!! It is very rare for the trans to grind a shift and not have a prob!
