Evo insurance vs C6 Z06 and BMW 335i
Do a search and see how many threads started by jackasses who try to take turns at 100mph and end up wrapping their car around a tree. Don't get me wrong there are a few who REALLY accidently total thier car from bad weather or by other drivers. You don't see that happening as often in vettes and BMWs. Idiot kids don't buy Vettes or BMW's, they buy Evo's and SRT-4's.
Mine isn't too bad. I only pay $600 every six months. Then again I'm 28 years old, married, 4 year old daughter, multiple car discounts, no tickets, no accidents, and a very good credit score.
I think its key to get a good agent that you can really work with. My agent originally quoted $840 when he was just casually running the numbers. I told him that he needed to work on it and he did. Got it down to $600.

Your right, it is a way over priced piece of junk....I have driven both a c5 and c6 multiple times...not that great.....but hey....it's your 75 grand wasted not mine!!!
Have fun with a $900 car payment too....

To eacch his own. Im not here to bash anyones opinion but simply stating my own. My opinion is and will be backed by many. For what the Zo6 was created for, it does not dissappoint. It is a great drag machine, and an equally impressive road course machine. It is also well mannered on the street with a more complient ride than most high spring rate coilover equipped tuner cars. It is what it is. Anyone spending a mortgage payment on a car is crazy. Dont think that most people who buy these cars will take that route.
Now back on topic, I too was quoted a higher rate for the Evo than the ZO6. When I first called and inquired a quote for the Evo, the agent laughed and told me before he input my data that he knew the ZO6 would be 30-50 bucks cheaper a month.

the reason insurance is cheaper on the vette is and should be because the vette is domestic, parts are cheaper to obtain, and there are much more vettes on the road than the evo.
Regardless of the quality of the cars, or what their created for, or personal opinion.
The reason the Evo's insurance is pretty high is simply because the track record and history that many evo drivers have.
Look at the demographic of many Evo owners fall into? And how many "Wrecked Evo" threads they are. Its no surprise that insurance will be higher, theft rate, accident rate, incidents vs total production are WAY Higher than other cars.
Look at cars like the Corvette, its much more expensive, much higher production numbers, pricing the car out of reach from most younger inexperienced buyers (there are exceptions) Similar to the BMW M3 and M5's.
Plus many of you guys are still in the assigned risk, and will be until your over 25 (28 in some companies)
I had a corvette, my insurance was about $1200 a year, My evo is about $1500 a year, my TOTAL insurance bill for all of my cars is about $2400 a year, it wasn't initially because it didn't have a track record of expensive repair, high theft, and a high wreck to production rate.
If you want insurance prices to drop, stop wrecking, stealing, and f'ing up Evos..
Oh and I'm also with USAA, and for the most part my prices have always been better than any other company I tried. But keep in mind USAA is usually with you for the long haul, its unlikely an accident will get you dropped, and over time, you get additional benefits back out of it. (USAA savings, Dividends, etc..)

I dont necessarily agree with you on parts being cheap for the ZO6. maybe the regular C6 but remember the materials used on the ZO6 are different and there are far fewer C6 Z06s on the road than Evos. Apply this to the 335 and its easy to see the problem. Its body parts arent cheap at all. Its soley to blame on the age demographic of the drivers and the vehicles intended use.
^^^^^^What he said above while I was typing. Word!!!!^^^^^
I don't understand why people are surprised by this. I thought all the reasons stated above were fairly common knowledge if you've been on this forum for any amount of time.
Malibu Jack hit the nail on the head. When I got my Evo in 03 the rates for it were comparable to a 350Z. Now, not so much. Luckily for me my rates haven't spiraled out of control like some peoples have.

i am still paying around 1100 a year for my evo, and its listed as a recreational vehicle since i rarely drive it and i have a wrangler i drive every day. hell, my R1 1000cc crotch rocket is less than half what the evo is! granted, theoretically it can only be ridden certain times of the year... but look at the amount of totals and thefts on sport bikes.. it is irritating how much the ins for the evo is though
Unfortunately for every good younger driver, there are dozens of really HORRIBLE younger drivers. Your track record as a driver doesn't really exist until you have spent some time driving and work your way up.
I know some drivers who are 19 who I would trust doing ANYTHING with a car, and there are some older drivers in their 30's and 40's I wouldn't go ANYWHERE near their car.
THe problem is statistically experience makes for better drivers, obviously there are exceptions but insurance companies can't really make case by case exceptions, at least for younger drivers because they have no history. At least take comfort in knowing that horrible older drivers are penalized and are put into assigned risk, and have high rates, why? Because their history shows their bad drivers.
High insurance rates for some cars are exclusively theft related, you can thank the low-baller cheap **** for that, the ones who will pay for stolen parts, or steal them themselves instead of doing it right. The Escalade is a good example of that. I can almost guarantee those aftermarket 20's have been on at least 3 different trucks.

And I have a small cruiser that costs me $50 (I think even less) a year to insure..
I was with USAA for sometime, but after I ETS'd out of the Army, I tried Geico... in my case they were a tad less expensive. YMMV though; but it can't hurt to call em up and get a quote.
BTW, just for reference... my 6 month premium just for the EVO is 862 bucks. That's with comp/collision, the whole shebang. I think my liabilities are 100/300k.

My 6 month is $887 and that's for GHETTO coverage ($1k deductible, 20/40, no medical coverage, no rental). . .. through ESURANCE, the cheapest I could find! WTH? It went up substantially when I moved from Houston, TX to Stamford, CT though. . .I just keep it garaged and parked most of the time, I walk to work, and my g/f gives me rides everywhere. . .my Evo has become my weekend car for jaunts on the Merritt Parkway!
Wow! My wife and I are with USAA and are currently stationed in the UK. Even though our premium went up a bit when we got stationed here, its still under $1,100 a yr for both our cars w/ full comp. I have a a 2005 Evo and the wife has a Subaru Legacy. Just going from my '02 WRX to the Evo caused my insurance to go up just and extra $200 a yr.
BTW thats will rental, towing- pretty much everything...etc
