Got my IX MR dyno'd this weekend!

Hey guys, just got my Evo IX MR dyno'd for the first time this past weekend at The Shop in Norwalk, CT. Unfortunately, I didn't do a baseline as I was pressed for time and already had some modifications to the car before I arrived. As a reference, on The Shops Dyno Dynamics dyno, stock IX's get about 230-240whp and this dyno reads 12% lower then other common dynos.

Current mods are:
Perrin TB w/test pipe
SS Autochrome O2 housing
Buschur MBC, Cone filter and LICP
Walbro fuel pump

Here are the results from Al's tune.

For anyone who is interested, add 12% to those #'s for Dynojet comparison and you come out with 355hp/336tq. Boost is set at 22psi and tuned on 93 Oct.

A very big thanks to Jimmy and the guys at The Shop who were willing to fit me in and make a great impression for a first time visit. Just the right amount of professionalism while still being able to hang out, BS and talk cars. I highly recommended them as a first time customer. It was very cool to deal with Jimmy and due to some unforeseen family issues, flip flop my schedule on him last minute and have him respond with "Just bring it in and we'll get you taken care of." Thanks guys, the car feels great.

As for Al at Dynoflash, dealing with you was very straight forward and professional and I appreciate that. Al knows how to tune Evos and I don't, so it was great to keep it simple for a first time tune and let him do his thing. Al, the car feels great. So much smoother and obviously faster. Check out the torque curve Al pulled out of it. Great work.

So basically to sum it up, thanks to Jimmy, the guys at The Shop and Al for giving me one of the most fun rides back to Jersey from CT that I've ever had. Awesome job guys!

They must recalibrate their DD everyday or something. Ive seen graphs of stage I IX's with very similar mods making close to 350whp on 93 octane.

yea, I think they (The Shop) have something set goofy on that DD. We have two properly-calibrated DD's here in MN and a similarly modded Evo IX will 'only' put down 290whp. Heck, my VIII with BR stage 4 'only' put down 294whp w/ HKS 280's! Your numbers seem more on-par with a car running alky & higher boost.

Nice tune none-the-less!

Great numbers on a DD. I'm not even remotely close with my VIII. 286whp. Definately seems high for a IX on a DD dyno. Have fun...

I have never seen a 350whp dynochart from The Shop with this boost level and 93 octane... even the 317whp is a but high but again every car is different...

Recently another member saw 342 on this dyno with the similar mods (no o2 housing, cheap air filter) but on 26psi with 104...

I have been going on this dyno since later december and i have never seen a 340-350whp with a Stage 1 or 2 level of mods...

-i have seen stock IXs doing 235-240whp
-i have seen VIIIs with cams and every bolt on except meth doing 307whp
-i have Impreza WRX with 16G and supporting mods not being able to exceed 245whp
-i have seen a Dodge Viper GTS with supercharger and alky kit at 10psi to FREAK OUT when it only saw 615whp, when he was expecting at least 710whp!!!!!!
- I have seen my car (Evo IX) on intake, turboback with cat, mbc, fuel pump and 93 octane with eflash doing 299whp when with the same exact mods i saw 328whp on a dynojet

...and many more... I don't think that the dyno is reading high at all...

However the best thing to do if continuing to upgrade the car is to always dyno on the same dyno with the same gas, boost etc so you can have comparable data...

Ill try to find the graph. It may have been with race gas but I could've sworn it was pump
