...Test drove the EVO 8 last night...
Well, I'm back in Beaumont, TX again.
I test drove the 8 last night. A white one, no sun-roof. I like the white, but I did notice the discoloration around the exhaust, as some here have noted, and only 125 miles on the car. I will probably NOT get the white, or the black. They also have a black one, and I don't like the look of that...
Anyway, I have not yet driven the STI, but I have driven the anemic 2004 WRX to great dissapointment to at least get a feel for the car.
The EVO has FAR less lag than the WRX. Nice to drive. The shifter is firm, and positive (much to my suprise for a transverse-mounted engine). The clutch weight, though too light for my taste, is far better than the WRX, which feels like a blown slave cylinder.
Driving (highway) the acceleration is nearly as good as my BMW. I did not red-line shift the car, but I don't do that with the Bimmer either. Handling as far as I dared to push it with the dealer in the car) was impressive. I can see this car as being very easy to drive quickly. It inspires confidence, like the E36 M3, but let's hope it is easier to recover once it breaks loose...
Overall, I'm impressed. For an off-the-showroom car, not even broken in yet, it's prtetty serious. Honestly the best feeling
I have ever driven.
Once I drive the STI and R32, I will make my choice... Stay tuned!
