EVO IX plastic undertray (passenger side)

Just noticed earlier today that a portion of the passenger's side plastic undertray has been cut. Normally, this particular piece of undertray bolts to the front facing the bumper, then two clips at the back closest to the tire. The angled plastic piece which is supposed to clip to the panel with the angled vents in the wheel well has been sheared off. Looks like a pretty clean cut, as if it was damaged before and the dealer simply cut it off instead of replacing the entire right panel.

How much does that part of the undertray cost? I don't need the center or driver side, just the passenger. Could I just ask the dealer to replace that part, since it was like that when I bought the car new, or just skip them alltogether and buy it myself?

BTW, doesn't look like there's been any impact damage on that side.. which makes this situation sort of weird.

OK... maybe I'm wrong, and this piece is supposed to be the way it is. I found another members photo, and while not the best quality, seems to show what I'm referring too better. Can anyone confirm the missing mounting tabs for the passenger side undertray panel?

Alright, nevermind.. will just buy a replacement one since they're cheap. Before I do though, I would like to confirm the part number for the one I need which is passenger side. Is this the correct number and description:

MN126980 - right side under panel with brake duct

I put a Beatrush underpanel on mine. It has saved my front end quit a few times. The stock plastic ones are garbage.

Hey man--did you have to remove your brake cooling ducts to use it? I'm thinking about getting that undertray as well since I had to cut mine up for the AMS FMIC--but I didn't want to remove the brake cooling ducts.

Thank you for your suggestions, but I think I'll stick with the stock panels for now. The Beatrush unit is nice, and will probably get it some time down the road. The other I was looking at was the Carbing tray, which apparently did not provide the same level of coverage as the Beatrush or OEM units.

Anyway, I've already ordered the replacement right panel from mitsubishiparts.com, and should get it in the next few days. I am curious though, my MR has the zero-lift kit. Would I still be able to use the chin diffuser with the Beatrush undertray? I searched extensively, and so far could not find any threads suggesting their compatibility.

I think that is normal. Mine is like that as well. Probably came from the factory that way. I noticed it when I did my first oil change.

Ok,
We noticed the same thing yesterday while doing the LICP install. It is normal. My best guess would be that it has something to do with the oil cooler located on passenger side

An interesting observation I just had! I had the opportunity to look at another EVO's undertray a few minutes ago. The primary difference is, my EVO has the zero-lift kit installed, and brake cooling fins. The EVO I compared mine against does not have these items installed.

The other EVO's underpanels (both left and right side) have a protrusion right before the wheel well. Basically it looks like a raised plastic divider. My EVO on the other hand has both of these plastic protrusions cut off. I'm wondering if this has something to do with the zero-lift kit and brake cooling fins? It would seem to make sense, as now there would be zero resistance for the air travelling beneath the vehicle to reach the brake cooling fins. At the same time, with the addition of the zero-lift front chin, removing these protrusions would eliminate air turbulence.

If you happen to have an MR with these items installed, could you take a look at your undertray panels on the driver and passenger side. Perhaps you could confirm my assumptions that these plastic dividers or protrusions were removed for the reasons I stated?

Thanks you.

I only removed the stock trays. I didn't take any brake cooling ducts off. The Beatrush skidplate comes with some brackets for both sides to lower it a little bit for clearance. I have the Perrin front mount, and don't have any clearance problems with it. So I would assume the AMS IC would fit also. Call the guys at Kami Speed. They will have all of your answers. They are cool guys, and honest about what fits and what doesn't. My car used to sit very low, and the skidplate saved my tranny, IC and a few other things. I highly recomend it for every Evo.

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it. I'll be getting this and one of those carbon exhaust outlet protectors as well soon. My white evo is starting to look a little like my rim color now around the muffler port.

Pretty sure it has to do with the break cooling ducts...... Mine is like that too.
