Dissing an Evo!
yea, mini's suk ***** like noones' mom, i have encountered one in the evo and eatin it alive and when i pulled into the gas station, he pulled in and said the only reason i got him was cause i had exaust and other mods, and he got a bad start
eeehhhhh WRONG i jus laughed, pumped the gas and left.beside im to tall(6'1") to fit in em.
That guy on the mini forum is an idiot, but speaking as a current Mini owner who's about to buy an Evo, I can say that they're both awesome cars in their own right. The Mini has NO power, true, but the handling/steering/balance is impeccable - and I can attest that a well-driven Cooper can eat almost any so called "high performance" car alive on tight canyon roads. Oh, and I'm 6'1 and I fit with lots of room to spare.
But again...that Mini guy is an idiot.

I am betting that an EVO would eat a Mini alive on any tight canyon road you could come up with. But I certainly could be wrong, I haven't driven one... I'm also guessing the only place a Mini could show an EVO it's tail would be in an ultra tight (steering wheel full lock to lock kinda stuff!) parking lot course where the slalom speeds were just barely above a human jog due to tightness and hard turns.
I'm very aware of the record numbers that an Evo can deliver - and I'm foaming at the mouth to buy one myself. I'll clarify: drivers being equal, yes, an Evo would definitely be a little faster than a Mini on a tight road, but the Mini is THAT close in terms of handling and grip that the driver could more than make up the difference. I've been on many "spirited" canyon runs where a Porsche or Ferrari driver has been in my way and tried to take off and outrun me and they've just held me up. Anyway, on anything OTHER than tight, twisty switchback roads where you're never going over 70 mph, the Evo will indeed slaughter the Mini.

The Mini is a great little car, it handles great, looks cool, etc. Hell, I like them too, but to say the EVO is some kind of inferior car to the Mini handling wise is just plain wrong. The Miata guys found out about the WRX when I went to Deals Gap when they all go there... The WRX, specially with the OEM tires is a complete pig compared to the EVO, yet a hot shoe with his Miata had a hell of a time staying with me (who is clearly the lesser driver) in the WRX. The EVO would have destroyed him and I'd bet the Miata's handling, although different, is on par with the Mini.....
These guys need to try to get to drive an EVO before they post such drivel, I guarantee you that they'd not say such crap if they ever tried the EVO
Personally for me I think the mini is a neat little car. I wouldnt buy one myself but they are OK. Not fast by any means but do have a little spunk to them due to their size and weight it seems they could handle quite well. I know one could out handle me in a heart beat. My car handles but I dont think as good as a mini. In a straight line I have given one a head start, let his back wheel get to my front then handed him his *** hehehe. Now as far as an EVO goes to one power to power te EVO will win...handling wise I believe the EVO would also take it but the Mini wouldnt be too far behind.
Both are very good cars. Seems to me the guy is a Mini enthuiast and not a car enthuiast. I suppose ignorance is bliss for him.
(Holy... and his sn is SCCA. You'd think he would know.)
