I forgot one more thing. With the X coming out later this year would I be an idiot for buying a new IX?

Yes, I have heard that the X will have an aluminum block. Does that mean it will inherently be less tunable becasue the motor can't withstand has much hp? Why would Mitsu remove one of the key elements that makes it have such a loyal following?

I know it is pure speculation but do you guys expect that the values of IX will go up or at least not plummet with the new one comes out because of this. Kind of like the NSX community generally feels they will begin going up when the new mass produced non-aluninum version...

I'm an older (than many here) turd with grey in my hair... get the Evo, make it a 5 speed without a sunroof... so what, get you some aftermarket HID lighting because some jack *** thought they could make more money bundling HID lighting with things the Evo should have never had in the first place (sunroof). So what that it looks like a sixteen year old's wet dream (I really don't like the look of the Evo much to be honest).

...and you can always take care of any other "mid-life" crisis in the back seat of the Evo. For me, that would be the wife and her brunette girl friend... sorry, I've had much wine tonight (try that in the NSX/Lotus/Porsche)

Seriously, you remember how much fun you had in the car the first time... otherwise, you wouldn't even be here posting.

I have to admit, fun factor on the Evo is worth about $100k when you start comparing seat-of-the-pants performance vs. "numbers".

Quit "thinking" about it, and go let your back side tell you how much fun the Evo really is. I've had my back side planted in Euro/Italian leather at times to. There absolutely IS a certain amount of prestigious pleasure that comes with those types of machines. However, nothing makes you giggle like a seventeen year old on prom night (with the prom Queen) again like the Evo. At least that is this man's opinion.

I had an NSX (a 1994 model) for about a year. It was alot of fun to drive but it was very impractical.

The Evo, on the other hand, was alot of fun to drive but very practical as well.

I'd choose an Evo over the NSX if I could only keep one but, unlike some people, I don't buy a car for image.

The Evo represents an almost unbeatable value for the true driving enthusiast. I am currently waiting on the Evo X!

That's not a good enough reason for it to suck, guy. Try harder or I will give you an F+.

It just doesnt make sense to buy a car thats 15 years older and with twice the miles for the same price though.
I 100% agree

That was a concern of mine as well, but in the end there's always going to be something potentially better around the corner. If you always waited you'd never have anything, except money in the bank Screw it! You're a long time dead, enjoy it now.

For the record I went for the SE in silver, I would have prefered grey though. I sometimes think I should have got the MR as the gap between 4th and 5th is occasionally annoying, but not $3k annoying.

no it wont have the 4G63 in it, but life goes on. do you want mitsubishi to run this engine for another 10 years while technology moves on? im not saying the X is going to be better but at this point we just dont know. eitherway, it will take a few generations of the new platform to get it right. just show some restraint and dont jump the gun...

This was the reason I bought mine last week as it was the last chanve to get a new off the lot "real" Evolution. I had the opportunity to see the new Lancer and while I like the interior better, the front end looks like it came off a Volvo S60 and most importantly, it is significantly larger (would put it at about 25%). When we are talking about all of the reasons to buy an Evo, getting a larger one is at the bottom of the list. The new one will certainly appeal to a buyer looking for something more refined but I think most enthusiasts will prefer the 8/9 as they are smaller and should be more agile.

Buy yourself a 9 and don't look back!
