WhiteEVo got dirty....

ok, i washed and waxed my EVo the other day, went driving around. GOt home, notice i got some dirt marks on both sides of my car. I thought it was nothing of it, because it looked like mud specks from the road. As i try wiping it off, it ain't dirt/mud, its like grease or something, its not comng off

i bought bug/tar remover, used it, and it does not clean it off totally, **** is pissing me off.

what the hell is it?!?!??!? is it oil? its like brown, after i use the remover, its like yellowish now...sigh.

If it is infact some kind of oil or grease, try wiping it off using a cotton fabric such as a white HANES T-shirt. If it is grease, it should come off. If it doesn't, use NU FINISH car polish. I can almost guarantee you 100% that it will come off. You use it like wax. Apply a small amount of polish on a cotton shirt and rub that grease/dirt in a small circular motion and use a clean side of the cotton T-shirt to buff it clean. This should work.

Sounds to me like that's TAR. Good luck taking it out. A good cleaner wax should take it out. Or you could try WD-40, but the wax should be sufficient.

**** NU FINISH! thats the best way to scratch a nice new paint job in short order. spend 10 bucks and buy clay magic or any of the clay / lube based cleaners.

http://www.clay-magic.com/

be nice to your EVO's no washing with dish soap either !

I second the motion on clay. That's what detailing clay is for. I swear by it.

Go to your local Target store and get some Zymol polish. It works great on tar.

Did you use tyre dressing to make the tyres all shiny? I've done that before and given it insufficient time to dry - it makes a nice mess of the sides of your car... Someone mentioned WD-40 - I've had good results with that before, but it will strip the wax. Try some Simple Green if you have some lying around also. If worse comes to worse then try some of that scratch remover stuff (I know it's not scratched, but it has worked on tough bug stains for me before).

Do not use polish to remove tar. Polish is meant to cut the paints surface and remove scratches....it is not meant to remove caked on dirt and tar.

Use a Clay bar.

While clay bars are abrasive, like polish, it is a much finer abrasive.....and in the end it's the shearing action of the clay againts the body of the car that removes the tar, not an abrasive action...as would be the case if you used car polish.

These cars are brand new guys. We shouldn't have to use actual abrasive polishes on the paint for some time.
