Too much lumbar support?

So I picked up my new Evo IX a couple weekends ago and am absolutely loving the car so far - it's just incredible. The stock Recaros look and feel great and certainly do an excellent job keeping me in place through the twisty stuff, but I feel like they have too much lumbar support. It's to the point that it's digging into my lower back somewhat. It hardly makes the car undrivable, but it does mar an otherwise terrific driving experience and leaves my lower back feeling a little sore after long drives. Does anyone feel the same, and is there any way to fix it? Can the covers be removed and some of the material shaved off? I'd really rather not buy all-new seats.

Curious.. how tall are you and what do you weigh?

I'm 5'8 175lbs and it fits in the words of Jim Carry "Liiike a glove!"

I'm 6'0 and 175. I have long arms and legs but a normal torso. I actually noticed the same thing when I test drove an STi...

I should also mention I've fiddled with the angle of the seat back plenty and adjusted my sitting position in a variety of ways. I can never make the discomfort disappear entirely.

hmm...I always thought I can use a bit more side support because I
think the stock seats do not have enough lower side support.

Is it just me?

i'm used to it now, but it's killing the household boss. it was killing my back too. preference, i guess. but mitsu, if you're reading this, a touch less lumbar would be great.

How long did it take you to get used to it? I'm going to call the dealership tomorrow and see if stripping off the cover, shaving off some of the padding and replacing the cover is feasible. I certainly wouldn't say it's killing me, but this car is my DD and everything else about it is just awesome.

I know it's painful to fork over a huge amount of dough for new seats, but I think some racing seats with adjustable lumbar support is right up your alley. Any sort of discomfort you feel in your car seats is worth getting fixed; your back will thank you later.

i have lower back problems (5'9, 166lbs)...and i go to a chiropractor reguarly. What i suggest (what fixed the problem for me) is a memory foam cushion from target. it solved my lower back problems
