Strange noise, HELP!!!!
Strange noise, HELP!!!!
A couple thousand miles back, my car started making a whining noise, almost like a bad transfer case but a lot more quiet. You could only hear it on the freeway, on the coast side with partial throttle. I take it into the dealer, after putting it back to 100% stock, and they say its a loose countershaft bearing. They fix it, and what do you know, it still makes the noise, so I decide to ignore it. A couple hundred miles later, a freeze plug comes loose out the side of my transmission, and all the gear oil comes out. Once again, all stock and towed to the dealer. They fix it, but the sound is still there, and now my shifter gets stuck to the left every time I pull it to the left. But, the sound is bugging me, and I don't really know what it is. It's a slight whining noise, only off throttle and on partial throttle. The noise gets progressively higher pitched as the car goes faster, and only starts whining at about freeway speeds. If anyone has this problem, input would be appreciated.
If you're under warranty, and your dealer is taking care of you, why don't you ask your service rep to ride along with you so you can reproduce the problem? If they say don't worry about it, make sure they document the problem for you. If your tranny drops out, you have proof that they didn't want to fix it earlier.
I think that whining noise is your gears meshing together...its normal..i hear it on mine too...and i only got 3000 miles on it...the noise has been there since the first day i got my evo....u can only hear it on the freeway right? when you let go of the gas and you just cruise you hear the whining sound...?
