supercharged AND turbocharged!!!!!!!!
Its called twin-charging, and it actually works very well. Engine response is definitely improved, and insane amounts of boost are obtainable. The system does have very obvious flaws however (I think increased intake charge, weight, complexity, more parasitic loss, etc) not sure what happened with the project though...
A similar system (supercharged and turbocharged) was done by Lancia during the Group B rally period in the 80's with The Lancia Delta S4. This site has a small amount of information on it. It is interestinng to note that they used a bypass valve for the supercharger when the turbo kicked in. http://www.autozine.org/strange_car/...0.htm#Delta-S4

Hey guys,
The car was sold to AMS several years ago. The best we did with this car was run high 10's in the low 130's. After a few passes at Atco one night it threw the rod bearings and I officially became burned out. AMS wound up buying the car for a reasonable offer.
It turns out that the biggest issue with the car was the tuning. It hadn't been tuned proper using the Autronic causing it to "blow up." AMS offered to dig into this but I decided to move on.
It was very expensive way to run in the high 10's. The car never made close to its HP and torque potential because the gentlemen doing the tuning on the Autronic made a few fatal errors.
It was a blast to drive. No turbo lag, dog box tranny with a sequential shifter, etc. It's the only car that I've owned that I often regret selling.
There's no way that AMS is selling it with the twin chrge system as that system was sold piece part.
I now have two cars that I race. One's a 700 HP Cayenne Turbo built by Evoms. The other is a Porsche GT2 with twin GT30's built by Evom. The GT2 is a 10 second car and the Cayenne will hang with a stock 911tt.
Take care.
