methanol in gas bad?

methanol in gas bad?
i was reading my owners manual for my 05 evo8 and it said NOT to use gas that have methanol in it.....is this the same as meth injection? it said that methanol in gas will decrease performance and cause engine problems....then on the other page it said ethanol is ok.
