Rust

Have any of you had any problems with rust? I was looking at the trunk of my car the other day and noticed a lot of rust forming where the spoiler meets the trunk, as well as on the sides of the trunk where it meets the taillights. I went in my dealer the other day and they took some pictures and sent them in to the mitsu rep for approval of new parts. I'm hoping that the request is approved because I've only had the car for two years and have taken good care of it. I'm guessing it some kind of clear coat flaw. I had my audi for about 10 years and the paint stayed flawless on that. Any opinions, advice, experience? Thanks. Ill take some pictures later today when I get a chance.

I have heard of other people having the same issue. My 03 has a few rust marks around the wing. I am sure the salt in Ohio here doesn't help either. The bad news is I heard most dealers try not to cover rust unless it is a rusted through hole.

Here are a few pictures. I don't really want to take the spoiler off because it would be like mitsubishi to use that as a reason to deny my claim. Please ignore how dirty my car is... I promise I'm gonna wash it tomorrow, I've just been too busy lately to do it. Let me know what you think and thanks for your input thus far.

I'm gonna go into the dealer tomorrow, so i'll let you guys know whats up after I find out. I initially went in several weeks ago for this issue, so I assume they got an answer from the mitsu rep. SaxGopher, did you talk to your dealer about it?

It's at the same location as mine.
Dealer repainted the whole trunk to fix the problem.
