I was told Mitsu sells the front and rear sets for around $275 each. Some are using less expensive brands like "Hawks". Do you think it will work the same?

Mitsu build quality does suck. There is no way around it. The materials used for most of their cars is crap. Horrible corrision protection. Try taking out some clips from a mitsu and see if most of them don't break. The drivetrain/Engine/Suspension on the Evo ****ing rocks, but don't mistake that for a well built car overall.

Oh, and if you drove ANY other mitsu you would not be sticking up for its build quality. The evo is any amazing fun car to drive and that seems to cloud everyones judgement.

i drove a third and second gen eclipse in the past, and i gotta say, besides creaking like crazy, the 3rd gen was actually a nice ride, underpowered to say the least but still nice

its not only brakes...

tires play an important role too... if you have crappy tires ur brakes will over power the tires and put you into a slide...
