Radiator support Beam?

Hey guys,

As some of you know- I rear-ended some lady in an SUV and the car is pretty messed. I've already ordered all the parts I need except 1- which I'll have to get from the dealer, but no one can give me the exact part name or part number. I've looked everywhere- and the original estimate wrote it up as a $68 tie bar WHICH IS WRONG!!! The shop I get it to will get that part fixed with the insurance becuase I know this part is more expensive. Note the pix below:

light, bumper and radiator support beam.

Light and Fender

Radiator support beam crunched down and fender rolled
.

Can I just buy a new one from the dealer and have the shop I'm using install it? OR is this way more serious and will need to be taken to an actual body shop to replace that beam?

I'm a bit confused.... You can see it's bent down and to the right a tad. But that's not throwing the frame off I don't think, I hit the gal at 5 mph or so. The crash bar wasn't even touched. This damage was from my car basically going under hers. It crunched the hood and bumper down.

A. What is the exact name of this part - radiator support beam?
B. Can anyone give me the part number?
C. Can this be done by a non-body shop?
D. Anyone have a used one they may be selling? ahah

Thanks!
Scott

I don't have the part number but I've had it replaced when I hit a guard rail a few months back. It will need to be reweld on so you will need a welder.

that pice is called "radiator support" its about 300 and its a ***** to change

so here are the answers to your questions.

A. What is the exact name of this part - radiator support beam?
Radiator Support, you can buy it in pieces or the whole peice i just priced it and its 281.19 on that webpage below.

The actual peice you want is called upper tie bar though, and its 47 bucks

B. Can anyone give me the part number?
http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...=1&catalogid=2

C. Can this be done by a non-body shop?
unless you can weld or have a tac welder it needs to be done at a shop.

D. Anyone have a used one they may be selling? ahah
I doubt you would want anyones used one because the welds would have to be broke lose

Damn thanks for that info man, I've been trying to find it everywhere- you answered all my questions- thank you again. I'm sure I'll be able to pick it up from a local Mitsu dealer and just have my shop weld it on. It's a tuner shop but from the techs are really good.

Everyone else has told me that a body shop will have to do this part, but I dunno I think this shop can handle it. How many hours would you say this install would be booked at?

your shop can fix it but will they make it look like it never happened, and do you care?

Well of course I care, and I know they do as well. Once I get all the parts I'll get the car in there and see what they say- if it's not something they want to tackle then it will go to a body shop for that one part.

We'll see what the shop I take it to says, if they don't feel comfortable welding this upper tie bar on to the rest of the radiator support- then they have regular bod shops that they'll just drive it over to after the rest of the stuff goes on. Everything else has been ordered and is on it's way.
