Update on National Meet in Vegas - Drag canceled, need replacement ideas

As the title notes, the friday night drag racing at the national meet in vegas has been canceled. That night is normally a test and tune night, but due to some sort of monster truck rally, the LVMS drag strip will be unavalable all weekend. This was a unfortunate blow to us, but we plan to make a replacement activity.

One option that has come to us is a dyno competition. Since Dyno runs take time, this would be limited to the high HP guys that plan to attend and probably a short list of them, maybe about 10.

We are open to other suggestions. Already on the agenda is a scenic drive, poker, road course, car show, and cruising the strip. Lets hear some ideas.

How long is the meet? You might be able to organize a Time Speed Distance rally. It's not exactly a high-adrenaline event, but it's fun. You could even make it a Poker rally with prizes at the end.

EDIT: Oops, thoguht those were possiblities.. Still a TSD/poker rally would blend some of those events together

Good suggestion, but as you mentioned we already have some of those elements. I have not heard many opinions about the dyno shootout. Does this insterest anyone?

The drive, show, and road course are all going to be huge fun activites. One more big one would really top it off, but is not entirely necessary. We could just leave friday night for poker, cruise the strip, and partying.

There is also the thursday night local meetup which many of us will attend.

Well, and acceleration event is obviously out. Auto-x is good, but would have to be an all day event which we don't have time for this year, and we already have road course.

Next year will probably be expanded by a day or two with both auto-x and drag

Are the dates for the event set in stone (given no on has registered for hotel rooms yet)? Would starting a couple days (or weeks) earlier or later allow us to have all the events? If the event were later in the year, it might be nicer temperature outside too.

Everything else is set in stone as per the thread stickied and the event website. Just waiting for final confirmation form the hotel on one point before posting the reservation information.
