Quick question regarding MBC..

Hey guys,

On my car I have installed a Halman MBC and I didn't have the "C" shaped clamp that comes with it. Currently I have it just zip tied to the stock intake brackets (not stable, and will move around) and I noticed that my boost seems to drop 2~4 psi immediately after I hit peak boost (22psi). It seems to hold boost better in 4th and 5th, but 1-3rd it tapers to around 18psi. Am I seeing this drop in boost because the MBC is not stable? or should I be looking for a boost leak somewhere? Does anyone know where I can pick up the "C" clamp anywhere? Thanks!

Errrr, no. That's how boost works. More load in higher gears = less taper and higher boost. Less load in lower gears = less boost and more drastic taper The taper is not caused by the MBC not being mounted.

Def. normal....Up until 2 weeks ago when I finally took the time and mounted it my mbc just hung from the uicp with a zip tie around the one vac. line, doesnt have to be mounted or "stable" to work properly.

I'm sure you guys are right, but it just seems like I'm leaking somewhere because when I had the bracket/clamp on it didn't drop so quickly...but then again that was my Evo 8...

Warr, are you still using your stock air box?

No, I have a Buschur intake. My Forge UNOS is mounted right on one of the intake mounting brackets. When I used to use my Hallman, I had it mounted on the radiator connection just below the intake snorkel. Since it was black, it was almost undetectable, but I had the c-clamp you are missing.

IX's have more taper than the VIII's.

I have gotten my 8 to hold exactly 22psi (1.5 bar) with the hallman MBC. Mounting it has no effect on boost though. Unless you confuse the lines or something.

lowes has the same bracket that comes with the hallman. in the isle where the stainless bolts are, youll see where they have bracket hardware and stuff. they have a couple different sizes but they even come with the rubber on them just like the hallman bracket.
