Wont go past 1500 rpm, please help????

My buddy has an 03 Evo VIII. he let his brother drive the car today and we got a call from his brother sayin the car was boggin hardcore. Then like three minutes later we get another call sayin the car wont go over 2000 rpm. i helped him get the car home and it acutally wont go past 1500 rpm before the car starts shakin and gettin all jerky. two nights ago he had his 3" AMS catback and a K&N drop in filter put in and we dont know whats causein the problem. is it the clutch or does it have to do with the mods we put on the car?

thanks guys

Check out your intake or your IC pipes, they probably poped and it causing major vacuum leak.

Yep,
IC pipe is loose or
the bov fittings came loose.

Happened to me for the first time a few weeks ago after my cam install.
Didn't tighten the bov fittings tight enough.
Once it happens once you instantly know what it is, when it happens again.
It's an easy fix.
GL.

i had same problem. when i was entering highway, i heard loud pop. car refuse to go above 2k rpm. Stoped and checked what happened. My intercooler pipe was disconnected. I managed to drive 3 miles to shop(15-20mph in highway rocks!)
i had service light engine too. Reconnect pipe, titen the clamp, reconnect battery(for service light). Now it was back to normal. check all your pipes and connections.
if your car still drives but wont go over 1.5k rpm, im prolly sure your getting leak somewhere.

You don't have to be boosting hard for this to happen on stock clamps.

He probably took too many turns and ran low on blinker fluid.
