I need info about buying/importing evo iii-vi to usa

SO, i'm a chick and i need help.(what else is new)

Currently, I was playing with the idea with converting a Mirage (or similiar) to a faux evo.

I already understand the whole concept of engine, tranny and suspension conversion issues, so don't think i'm a complete idiot.

But my main question was toying with the idea of importing an over sea evo, and i found a few "ok" sites but i heard that there was some place down in florida that imported older evos....can anyone help me with that or of any other helpful sites?

I was pretty much looking for a "donor type" to either use a parts or just doing the conversion from rhd to lhd.

PLEASE GIVE ME SOME USEFUL INFO

Speaking from experience, be prepared to shell out lots of $$ and time when trying to import whole cars or shells/parts. Customs is tricky, so it helps to have a good/clever broker.

I actually used a place in Jersey that was pretty good for front clips, etc. Looks like that would be fairly close to you.

Or, just go buy this one and be done with it:

But seriously, if you have a IX GSR already, why go back to a VI or VII?

Nuerburgring Lap Times:

8.11 - Evo IX GSR
8.24 - Evo VI
8.25 - Evo VII

Lap times of stock Evo's don't really say much. A modified Evo III has the potential to be very fast because of its lighter weight. Plus, Evo III engines are exactly the same as the DSM 4G63, which makes it alot easier to find engines here in the US.

"Potential to be very fast", yes this is true, but at what cost? You also have to consider what performance you can get for the $$ you want to spend on parts. Having a car with a higher stock potential is not necessarily a bad thing if your budget for mods is small. For example, dump $2k in an Evo III or an Evo VIII, it's pretty clear which will be faster.

Then again, if you want a project car and enjoy wrenching (possibly more than driving), go with the III.

I'm still undecided of what I want to do yet.

I either:
A) spend a s*** load of money on parts and after market nonsense
or
B) spend a s***load of money on importing an evo and dealing with customs and i'm sure a lot more $$. but would kick more ***.

or maybe i've just watched to much initial d....:/

Honestly, put down the remote, and go online and purchase some goodies. You have a brand spankin' new car thats waiting to be modded, why not just.....start?

I mean it's too much of a hassle (i've seen it on supraforums) Just save your time and money and go start modding the IX.

Let me go on supraforums and see if I can dig up anything about importing laws and such.
