Custom Exhaust

Well I just sold my 95Gst eclipse and barring the paying my classes in august I'll have some extra cash to throw down on an exhaust (my first of many mods to come). Thing is I was wondering if there are any drawback to buying just a muffler and having the 3" TBE pipe custome made at a muffler shop. Its not that I'm concerned with spending money on a brand name TBE, its just that if it will flow the same volume of air then i don't care about a brand name and could use whats left over for other mods (mbc, fuel pump, flash, etc.)

Anyone done this or have any good opinions?

P.s - Being as how I live in Puerto Rico at the moment, any items bought in the states will have to be shipped over water which can raise the price a bit...

I say go for it...I am making a 4" aluminum TBE with a few mufflers to quiet it down.

the nice thing about the brand name exhausts is that you don't get the all the crappy looking welds that you'd get on a custom exhaust. Would that affect airflow at all as in making hte air more turbulent inside the pipe or does it really not matter at all?
