Boost Gauge Question? Pleae Help!!!
first off im a retard and i already know that. I got a mecanical autometer boost gauge and dont understand how to wire it up. im mounting it on the steering wheel and i have some question
1. is the plastic line long enough to go from the steering wheel to the glove box and then threw the firewall? or do i need to go buy rubber vacume line? if so what size?
2. Does a autometer gauge kit usally come with eltrical hookups. mine came with none. the gauge itself just has 2 prongs on the back, 12v & a ground.
3. what type of wire do i need to buy 12gauge or 14 gauge? also what do i hook the wires to & how do i?
4. I went to a auto store were i live (salvos) and i couldnt find any wire taps for the fuse box?
once again i know im a retard
but i need some help

Good luck!

The plastic lines almost never are long enough. Go to autozone and buy yourself some windshield washer vacuum line. You can do it two ways: Just use the hose that comes with it, then shove it into the vacuum line and zip tie it. Or.. if you can fit the hose onto the autometer gauge (I've seen some that actually comes with a nipple fitting) then just go straight all the way.
2. Does a autometer gauge kit usally come with eltrical hookups. mine came with none. the gauge itself just has 2 prongs on the back, 12v & a ground.
I've seen some that has the hookups ie the wires are built in. If you just have prongs then just get some simple wire connectors and get your own wire.
Doesn't matter what gauge, I'd be happy enough with 18 or 16 gauge wire, it's really just overkill and a pain in the butt to go any lower in the gauge of wire, but it wouldn't really hurt if you wanted to go with thicker gauge wire.

You don't need to use wire taps if you can't find the "add a fuse" You could always use a vampire clamp, or make a splice in a wire (ie your instrument cluster illumination wire)
