You don't need to remove the center console to get the shift knob off. Just unscrew it like a big nut.

Just twsit the knob to unscrew it.

You should sell the car now though if you having issues with a shift knob. Things only get harder.

I myself figured out that the shift knob unscrews only after I had removed the front bumper, driver side axle and drained the oil to get it out. sarcasm is great.

^^^^ haha I almost pooped!

If you cant find the 3 bolts and the 2 plastic screws to take it out.. then good luck when you try to remove the shifter and the white "cradle" thing that the shifter sits in...

Ill give you a hint.. you need to order a new one through mitsu..

open the arm rest and there is a screw inside there that needs to be unscrewed then the whole middle console should lift up......thats at least how it is in my RA.

take the ashtray out(just pull on it) and there should be 1 or 2 screws under there. 2 screws in the arm rest and lift.

oh and as for the while plastic piece that sits on the outside of the shifter, i just grinded the stock shifter(after i took it out ofcourse) to get the plastic out
