Lost Power & Stumbling

Hey Guys,

Hope someone can lend a bro a hand w/ some insite on my problem. Did a search but coundn't find someone w/ same exact symptoms.

I have a IX w/ Turbo Trix Stage III+ (full exhaust/cams/flash/filter/upper & lower pipes/fuel pump etc).

Driving home last nite on the parkway in 5th gear @ about 5000rpm & accelerating when I hear a loud "pop" like a firecracker going off & I start losing power. I brake slowly & downshift but when I gently try to give it a little gas (not in boost) the car "bucks & stutters" but does not accelerate.

I pull over thinking a hose popped off the intercooler or something but all look OK & no fluids leaking out. Car idles perfectly...no heavy vibration or bad noises. Did notice white smoke out of exhaust tho ... so shut it down & called for a tow.

Obviously concerned & want to have an idea whats wrong before bring it into a shop (or dealership).

Thnx in advance,

IC pipe popped off. You didn't find any results exactly like this when searching? Funny, it's extremely common - probably over 100 threads with the same exact thing.

Luckily for you, it's a non-issue. Just reconnect the IC pipe that blew off. You just must not have noticed the disconnected pipe. There wouldn't be any fluids to see - not sure what you were expecting.

Wartalon,

Thnx for the quik reply & in my search I saw people who still had power just lost it thru a particular RPM range only.

Also in other threads I read people spoke about a possible blown head gasket & they mentioned that there might be a coolant loss???

Anyways thnx for the good news ... it's a relief to know it should be a minor prob ... will look tonite & let you know if I need glasses ... LOL

definetly just a IC piping... most likely the upper one (connecting to the throttle body). you should really invest in some torque clamps as it will significantly reduce the chance of it blowing off again (and reduce chance of boost leaks too)

When an IC pipe completely blows off, it makes the car basically undrivable. You can't even begin to build positive boost, which happens if you open the throttle plate even a little. Each time it tries to suck air in, the open IC pipe kills it. It's hard to even get up to 25mph in 5th gear when it's like this.

Problems at certain rpm ranges are caused by different issues, not this one.
