I also think Mitsu has a strange advertising campaign. They blew their load on the 2 fast too furious thing, which is lame.
Then they place silly adds like this in the magazines.
Compare to Suburu - They are going after the muscle car image in a more mature way.
Does the EVO really need 5.1 secs blasted all over the place? Its true heritage is WRC not straight line crap that will toast your clutch anyway
.
People interested in this car already know the details.

Evilution:
I agree that the whole Fast & Furious marketing effort was skewed, to say the least. However, to say that Subaru's advertising is any better is not correct, IMO. I mean, what the hell has Lance Armstrong got to do with selling cars? Celebrity endorsements usually suck, and while Subaru's doesn't suck, it certainly misses the mark. Does it mean that Subaru can put the will of Lance Armstrong in it's cars? We all know the answer to that.
Also, you say mature, I say boring. Uninvolved. Not relevant.
ANd speaking of details, what about the Subie glass tranny? Everyone knows that, right?
While not the world's best ad, the Mitsu ad at least tried to be different. And, it definitely stood out in a magaine full of four color layouts with mediocre headlines and concepts. An exception to this rule are the Porsche ads, which are usually brilliant.
BTW, the head creative on the Subaru account at Temerlin McClain in Dallas left shortly after Lance Armstrong was announced as the company's mascot/spokesperson.
And, for anyone that thinks that they could do better, let me see your ideas
