Stay away from the EVO? Dont buy n Evo? WTF?
That article pretty much told me everything I already know. My opinion, is drive the car you want to drive if you're given the chance. I had a chance to buy an Evo and I have no regrets, I don't really care what I have to pay for insurance, the car alone makes it worth it.
Remember, these articles are written by economists, and insurance people, who get their jollies off telling people how to spend their money. Not people who enjoy driving their cars like us. Have somebody who likes to drive a fast car try to tell you to buy a low insurance, slow car, when you or they can afford something faster. Not going to happen. And if you're really worried about your car getting stolen, just load it up with anti-theft devices and lo-jack, you can do things to prevent your car from getting stolen, but you can't prevent a boring car from being boring.

With the wing off and debadged (as mine is), most people don't know what type of car it is anyway.
I do wish insurance was a bit cheaper, but oh well. I have mine listed as a pleasure vehicle and that helped to reduce the insurance. I bought a beater to drive to work.

The real fact is, it doesn't matter what car you own. If someone wants it bad enough they will take it. But I agree, Hondas are 100% worse. It seems like everyday there are handfuls of them stolen in, near, around, or end up in Detroit.
The greatest targets are the cars that have the highest demand for aftermarket parts. That is why Hondas (as there are so many of them) are targeted in greatest numbers.
