Question Exhaust Leak Question

A buddy of mine has an evo with similar mods to mine but has an ebay exhaust... but everything else is pretty much the same... lately he has been complaining that he can smell exhaust in thee cabin of the car and his AFR seems a bit richer... he was runinng 11.4 to 10.5 now he seems to run 10.4 under boost all the time... it did just get very hot down here in S. Florida. So he asked me if i knew how to find exhaust leaks? Im not sure if there is a procedure for this? He also has the megan mani...but its heat wrapped and cant really tell if it cracked on him... any help would be appreciated.

I could be wrong but isnt an exhaust leak is more of sound...I mean couldnt you just run the car without an exhaust?

if its running too rich, doesnt that mean it needed to be tune alil better

You could stick a thick towel in the exhaust pipe. If there is an exhaust leak you should be able to hear it from underneath. I would also suggest that you raise the car up on jack stands to gain easier access. If there isn't a leak then when you put the towel in the exhaust pipe your car will sputter. Just ensure you take out the towel if it does sputter.

Put it on the lift or on jack stands and while the car is running and listen for a leak. Also look for some carbon deposits that may show where the leak is.
