Does this make sense?

I met a guy today with an evo it had a new turbo kit on it that he said cost him 4000 dollars. When I asked him how much boost he was running he said 22psi. I am a newbie but i know with 80 dollars you can get a mbc and get the same boost on the stock turbo, so is there a point in the new turbo kit?

His car is tuned for pump gas. If his car was on meth or race gas obviously he would be boosting more. 22psi on the stocker won't yield the same power as 22psi on a larger turbo

larger turbos have can compress more air than a smaller turbo. If you think of the engine as a big air pump you will realize that when a turbo is compressing more air, the engine is getting more air, making it more efficient, making more horsepower.

PSI is the measurement of air at any instantaneous point in time. Volume of air is a rate per time. If you take the derivative of the cfm you'll get psi on the cfm curve if you graph it.
