Question about a floor jack.
I picked up craftsman floor jack at a really good price. Its a 2.5 ton 3.5" low profile. The jack can go up to 14 inches. My question is, is 14" an ideal height for my EVO? Would a 16" REALLY make that big of a difference? Anyhow... just curious. Im going to be installing exhaust on my car soon, and coilovers and hoped this would be enough. Jack was only $35.99.
PS. I bought jack stands to go with it.

Both are too short, IMO. My service jack (floor jack) goes up to 29". I also have jackstands that stand 21.5" high - at their highest setting. I call this setup a poor man's "lift" or a "lift" for a short ceiling. I couldn't be more pleased. On my creeper, I can have my knees all the way up and still not hit the bottom of my car. I have gobs of clearance.

DC Hydraulic is the company.
Service jack model DK13HLQ
Jack stand model 3000N-GS1
There are like three importers here in the States. It's not cheap. All told, this setup will set you back $1K-plus.

Yes there is something worse than death, like some very severe injury. Like a condition where you cant take care of yourself and others have to wipe your butt for you.

so um yeah I am a tard I went and got a nice floor jack, forgetting I already had one so now I have 2. I got jack stands. Last weekend I helped my friend take out the transmission out of his car at the BAD *** DO IT YOUR SELF GARAGE we have on Fort Wainwright. Its 4 bucks an hour to have your car up on a Hydraulic raise. Just like at a mechanics place except they have everything you need tools, fluids, hoses computers, Alignment tools. you name it they got it EVERYTHING to build a car from the ground up. Long story short I will never ever crawl under my car to change the oil again.

I used that 2.5 ton jack and jackstand set to do a cat back with no problems. Did the DP using a lift (good old military installation craft centers rock). But I was able do the mbc install from underneath with the same jack stand set so DP shouldn't be impossible either. Might be pita to get those spring bolts off like that though but enough Kroil and 1/2" drive breaker bar should do the trick.
