evo 8 parts on a evo I...
Hey,
so i have a question...
so i live in canada and am i huge fan of the evo's. Now alot of u know that the 03-08 Evo's are not admissable into canada, they dont meet our safety laws or something, i have tried everything to get one here and its failed on me. Now in October we are allowing into the country then 1992 Evolution ONE. its right hand drive and really inexpensive (approx 8500 USD) I was wondering.... If i took some parts off of a evo 8 and tried to do a conversaion (like a project car) u think it would work? (example: fender, hood, headlights, aftermarket bumper, brake/rotors, engine swap) im sure the AWD system is ok.
what do u think? How do they compare?

The first evolutions (1-3), use a fairly similar motor as DSM's do, which is a pretty stout power plant. Do some research on DSMs and you could probably do similar mods to the Evo I as the common ones in DSMs.
For example, it is fairly common for people to purchase an JDM Evo 1-3 motor and swap it into a 2g DSM since the 7 bolts are more prone to crankwalk than the 6 bolt motors. Also, a hugely common turbo upgrade for basic street/strip DSMs is the Evo3 16g, which is the actual turbo used on the Evo 3.
So, my advice is to mod up the Evo 1 since it can be pretty powerful, instead of trying some crazy swaps. That is, unless you really want the challenge.

Body part won't fit. Well not unless you are willing to chop them to bits and force them to fit. What don't you like about your evo1?, personally I think they look great as they have a classic look.
The evo motors are very similar, but different. IE the cyclone intake manifold. I'm just saying that it is still a very good motor and a good platform for modding.
